Holly started training at the age of three. She later studied ballet at Scottish Ballet Associates then, aged eleven moved to Dance School of Scotland. Holly went from there to McKechnie School of Dance and Performing Arts and it was there she was given the opportunity to dance at both amateur and professional levels in the UK as well as overseas. Holly has danced as a guest with Birmingham Royal Ballet, had the lead roll in a short film called Anna, danced and did acrobatics on the main stage at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, appeared for two years as the fairy in the pantomime aired by STV over Christmas and New Year, she has danced on many music videos for various singers, performed as a backing dancer for many people including Rod Stewart, AmyMacDonald and Susan Boyle. She has performed extensively in hotels, nightclubs and theatres across the UK including The Festival and Kings Theatres in Edinburgh, The Royal Concert Hall and Theatre Royal in Glasgow and Her Majesty’s Theatre in London.
Holly also loved to compete in dance, acrobatics and gymnastics and was lucky enough to win many medals, trophies, bursaries and championship titles for dance and acrobatics over the years. She also gained many medals and trophies for gymnastics, including the Scottish floor and vault title. After coming out of retirement for one last competition she was delighted to win the gold medal for acrobatics at the Dance World Cup in 2019. This was a lovely way to finish.
Holly secured a fully funded place at Bird College in London, but after deciding that this wasn’t the life for her she returned to Scotland where she achieved her dance teaching and gymnastics coaching qualifications.
She now teaches BATD and SDTA and loves teaching many different genres including ballet, tap, jazz and commercial but specialises in acrobatics and enjoys teaching workshops all over Scotland where she meets so many amazing children and delights in sharing her love of acrobatics with them.
Choreography is one of Hollys favourite things to do. She has won awards for her choreography and choreographed many acrobatic routines. She likes nothing better than watching the children she teaches competing their routines. The McKechnie acrobats have successfully competed all over the world gaining medals and championship titles at every level.
